Big Changes at Newsweek/The Daily Beast

Newsweek has just announced a few big changes. Jane Spencer, one of the founding editors of The Daily Beast, is leaving on a sabbatical, but will continue to contribute as International Editor at Large.

The site poached Newsweek deputy editor Tom Watson to serve in the same capacity on the Beast staff. Watson, an eight-year vet of the newsweekly, joked to WWD, “I hear the future of journalism might be moving in this direction.” Watson and Daily Beast founder Tina Brown go way back to the Talk days, as do recent recruits Gerald Posner and Gabe Doppelt.
