Inspiration for Van Wilder Insists He Has Never Seen the Movie

If Hollywood turned a Rolling Stone magazine profile of you into a movie starring Ryan Reynolds, you’d go see it, right? Like either at the premiere, if invited, or for sure on opening Friday night?

LifeofthePartyCoverWrong. In an interview with the New York Post‘s Reed Tucker to promote the May 27 release of the book Life of the Party: Stories of a Perpetual Man-Child, former Florida State University hell-raiser Bert Kreischer swears he’s never seen the 2002 National Lampoon comedy. Or maybe it’s just that he doesn’t remember.

Tucker got Kreischer to run through some fun anecdotes involving Tracy Morgan, cocaine-equipped screenwriters for an Oliver Stone project and ultimate party-animal praise:

“My first night in New York ever, I went down to the Meatpacking District and a journalist friend named Steve Garbarino showed me my first gay bar. We went to an after-hours club called Marylou’s, and this guy recognized me. He said, “You’re the party animal! I just read about you. I got to get you a drink!”

Jackie Johnson, Dorothy Lucey Lead the Way at FishbowlLA

One of the more entertaining ways to crunch website analytics at the end of a calendar year is to take a look at search queries that were phrased in the form of a question. These types of pathways are extra emphatic, a Web search tool for those who want to confirm something very specific.

In 2012, the winner in the FishbowlLA Q-category was CBS LA weather forecaster Jackie Johnson. Four of the top 20 search-engine questions that led people to our site this year were about her, or more precisely, her significant other:

Jackie Johnson married? (#7)
Who is Jackie Johnson married to? (#12)
Who is Jackie Johnson engaged to? (#15)
Is Jackie Johnson married? (#19)

Jimmy Kimmel Tops White House and Emmys with Dave

A dream year for Jimmy Kimmel is about to get dreamier.

On top of getting the news that his show will be moving in the New Year to 11:35 p.m. and hosting major powwows on both coasts (White House Correspondents dinner, Primetime Emmys), there’s now this. Per a report by Lacey Rose in The Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel will finally be afforded the opportunity to interview his lifelong idol David Letterman:

Letterman will join Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Tracy Morgan as a guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live when the ABC host brings his late-night show to his hometown of Brooklyn for one week later this month. The move is a monumental one for Kimmel, who grew up wearing a Late Night with David Letterman jacket and would celebrate his birthday with a Late Night cake.

The 90-year-old Betty White has joined the social networking service, likely making her one of the oldest users on Twitter in the process.

The Hot in Cleveland star is more popular than ever, racking up 40,000 Twitter followers in only five hours.

Tracy Morgan Swears He Supports Gay Marriage, Would Love Gay Son Extra Special

Comedian Tracy Morgan is in full damage control mode after a homophobic rant at one of his shows. He’s already apologized for the ugly remarks, but now he’s going further, by voicing his support for gay rights. In an interview published on GlobalGrind.com, Morgan spoke with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons about the “indefensible” rant, and where he stands on gay issues:

Of all the sicknesses, there is probably none more abusive than homophobia. My heart is committed to giving everyone the same rights that I deserve for myself….. I believe everyone deserves the right to be happy and marry who they want too; gay, white, black, male or female.

And about that remark that he would stab his son if he turned out to be gay?

The truth is if I had a gay son, I would love him just as much as if he was straight … I might have to try to love even more because I know of the difficulty that he would have in society.

Tracy Morgan Reveals Himself as Flagrantly Homophobic

Tracy Morgan recently told a comedy club full of people in Nashville during a show that if he had a gay son he would “pull out a knife and stab” him to death. If that sounds like the kind of remark a sane human–particularly one in show business–would make only in jest, it wasn’t. A gay man named Kevin Rogers was in the audience that night to see Morgan, and said that was just beginning of the homophobia. And it wasn’t a joke.

Rogers started a Facebook page entitled “Why I No Longer ‘Like’  Tracy Morgan” where he described Morgan’s rant.

I figured at some point the gay jokes would fly and I’m well prepared for a good ribbing of straight gay humor.  I have very thick skin when it comes to humor; I can dish and I can take.  What I can’t take is when Mr. Morgan took it upon himself to mention about how he feels all this gay shit was crazy and that women are a gift from God and that “Born this Way” is bullshit, gay is a choice, and the reason he knows this is exactly because “God don’t make no mistakes” (referring to God not making someone gay cause that would be a mistake).

2010′s Best And Worst Men’s Magazine Cover Subjects

On Monday FishbowlNY reported that Lady Gaga was 2010’s leading cover girl for monthly and biweekly magazines.  Although Gaga was everywhere last year, there were some other celebs that held their own while gracing the covers of men’s magazines.  Top male titles GQ, Details, Esquire, Men’s Journal, and Men’s Health featured a smorgasbord of A-listers that went either boom or bust at newsstands in 2010.  Here’s the scorecard (all results are courtesy of the Audit Bureau of Circulations Rapid Report):

GQ’s top-selling cover went to Rihanna who posed topless for the January issue.  Funnymen Tracy Morgan, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis each had a separate GQ cover in August and sold the second most copies for the year.  Apparently GQ readers are firmly on board with Team Edward because Taylor Lautner’s July issue was the lowest seller of 2010.

Twilight leading man Robert Pattinson was plastered on the cover of Details 10th anniversary issue in March – the year’s bestseller.  Mad Men’s Jon Hamm was not as fortunate as his October cover was Details least successful issue through November.

Tracy Morgan Might Not Be “Acting” Crazy

We hear from Gawker that an hilarious interview Tracy Morgan did a couple years back- where he sings, hits on a female interviewer, and crawls on the desk in front of the news team to do his impersonation of a pregnant lady- will be used in the April 23rd episode of 30 Rock. Not sure what parts of the clip below will make it on to the show, but it’s all worth watching.
