Teen People Folds: 50 Staffers Affected; Reps Say ElleGirl‘s Demise Had ‘Nothing To Do’ With Decision

Update: About 50 staffers were affected by Teen People‘s folding earlier today, according to a Time Inc. spokesperson, who added that the abrupt folding of Hachette’s ElleGirl earlier this year had “nothing to do” with Time Inc.’s decision to fold Teen People.

One staffer unaffected, at least at this point: Zena Burns, editor of Teenpeople.com, which, like ElleGirl.com, will live on in brand-form.

UPDATE #2: Eat The Press says editor Lori Majewski is out.

UPDATE #3: AdAge‘s Nat Ives points out that the teen magazines are “costly to service subscriptions to, given the audience ages out every few years.”
