Craigslist founder, FishbowNY twitter reader, possible newspaper industry anti-christ, and last-minute roommate savior to all, Craig Newmark is reportedly ready to spread his empire wings —and not just by repsonding to a site request from Ramallah on the West Bank (one can only imagine what those ads might look like).
According to the Times Newmark is also hoping to capitalize on his enormous success by promoting “causes that include supporting the Barack Obama campaign and financing investigative journalism.” Apparently there is also a possible showdown looming with eBay — Newmark seems to be suffering seller’s remorse and wants to explore repurchase options. As for single-handedly bringing the newspaper industry to its knees? It’s just an “urban myth,” he says.
