The Sunday Times: [nacho] cheesy!
Random silliness in yesterday’s NYT:
· An exercise in journalistic post-modernism or unintentional irony in “The Week in Review” section? The Times memorializes George Kennan’s 8,000 word “Long Telegram,” the length of which, Kennan explained, was determined by the need to avoid “a dangerous degree of over-simplification” by excerpting it—in 700 words.
· Fimoculous’s Rex Sorgatz writes, “Somebody please stop Christine Rosen from publishing this story again. First in the [The New Atlantis], she wrote about how cell phones and TiVos are ruining our lives. Now she’s done it again in a NYT Mag essay.”
· Maureen Dowd scours Cancun for nachos, fantasizes about “joining the line of kids waiting to get in and salsa dance on the sawdust dance floor and drink from yard-tall plastic glasses at Señor Frog’s on the strip.”
