NYMag.com, the ever-expanding Web site of New York magazine, today announced the hiring of Entertainment Weekly senior editor Josh Wolk as entertainment editor for the site.

In his new role, set to begin November 17, Wolk will oversee an expansion of NYMag.com's Vulture blog. The first phase of the revamped blog will debut next week, with the introduction of Vulture TV Recaps. Building on the popularity of NYMag.com's current recaps of shows like "Gossip Girl," the new Vulture Recaps will cover about 20 current shows. The recaps will be written up by the magazine's talented stable of writers, including Logan Hill, Will Leitch, Emily Nussbaum and Adam Sternbergh.

As the writer of EW.com first regular TV recap, Wolk seems like the best choice for NYMag.com as it seeks to expand its online content selections.

JOSH WOLK NAMED ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR AT NYMAG.COM

New York, NY, October 29, 2009 — Nymag.com editorial director Ben Williams announced today that Josh Wolk will join the website as entertainment editor on November 17, overseeing an expanding area of the site. Wolk will lead the significant expansion of the site's Vulture blog, the first phase of which is set to launch next week with Vulture TV Recaps.

Wolk joins the site from Entertainment Weekly, where he has worked for the last twelve years, most recently as senior editor. He started as the first writer of original pieces for EW.com, and after two years on the site moved to the magazine, where he was a writer, senior writer (writing features, reviews, and humor pieces), then senior editor. He started EW.com's first regular TV recap in 2001, and built up a large, loyal following for his Amazing Race recaps of the last nine seasons. His memoir, Cabin Pressure: One Man's Desperate Attempt to Recapture His Youth as a Camp Counselor came out in 2007 from Hyperion. His writing has also appeared in the Boston Globe, Golf magazine, and Time Out New York.

"Josh is an experienced editor who brings a valuable combination of print and web experience to nymag.com," says Williams. "We are excited to have him on board as we build out the entertainment area of the site."

The Vulture Recaps, building on the success of nymag.com's popular recaps of shows such as Gossip Girl and Mad Men, will cover about twenty current shows (with about an additional 15 on hiatus), giving a home to a feature that presently resides on the site's blogs and adding links to news about the shows, video, and more. The existing recaps are successful both in terms of page views and user commenting, with Jessica Pressler and Chris Rovzar's Daily Intel Gossip Girl recaps receiving about 400 comments on average. The site's recaps benefit from being able to draw on the magazine's talented writers such as Logan Hill, Will Leitch, Emily Nussbaum, and Adam Sternbergh.
