Today on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast, GalleyCat editor Jason Boog and AgencySpy editor Matt Van Hoven welcome Steve Bryant, the New York editor for Thrillist — a daily newsletter sharing “under-the-radar goodness” about eats, drinks, gear, travel, and entertainment.

The guys talked about disgraceful South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and his sorry Argentinian affair, Google as “digital vampire” and summer movies.

Bryant also gave some insight into his work at Thrillist and Rental Car Rally, an upcoming car rally over 36 hours. “Everyone dresses up in costume, it’s kind of like Halloween on wheels,” Bryant said. “And the grand prize is $1000 and a golden gas pump.” Winners are based on odometer readings and best costumes, he said.

The next rally will take place from New York to Detroit in August, Bryant said, admitting that he doesn’t even have a driver’s license. “This is sort of me living vicariously through my rally team.”

Tomorrow, tune in to the podcast live at 9 a.m. to hear FishbowlNY editor Amanda Ernst talk about the week’s media headlines.
