Time Inc. and Sports Illustrated Unveil Digital Subscription Model

Yesterday we told you about this, and now it’s official: Sports Illustrated has launched a digital subscription plan on Google’s Android platform, called All Access.

Launching today, All Access provides magazine apps and website access to any Android smartphone and the Samsung Galaxy tablet. A combined print and digital subscription is $48 per year, while a digital access only package is $3.99 per month. Those prices seem fair to us, because when it comes down to it, there really is no one doing sports journalism better than Sports Illustrated.

Mark Ford, Executive Vice President, President, for Time Inc.’s Sports Group said of All Access:

This is a significant step in delivering Sports Illustrated’s award-winning journalism to sports fans everywhere and in any way they want it. The new subscription options give consumers flexibility and convenience they desire and ensures that our multiple revenue streams continue to grow.

There was no word about the swimsuit issue, so don’t even ask.
