Time Out New York “contemplates copulation” with its annual “Sex” issue this week, guest-edited by John Cameron Mitchell, the director of the buzzed-about new film Shortbus, a “polymorphous, polysexual cinematic celebration” being released this week.

“There is such reluctance to address sex as an inherent part of the human experience in this country,” Mitchell says. Well, he’s clearly doing his part to promote both the act and the film: Mitchell’s party for Shortbus at the Angel Orensanz Center [above] was the entire focus of Tricia Romano‘s Fly Life column in this week’s Village Voice, and Mitchell was the subject of an “exclusive” Filter interview.
