Update: World Trade Center ‘Junket Whores’ Not Limited To Seattle

world_trade_center_junket.jpg

For whatever reason, Paramount’s traveling press junket for Oliver Stone‘s World Trade Center inspired film reviewers to cover the junkets themselves. John Roberts of Grand Rapids Press used the Chicago WTC junket as fodder:

The “World Trade Center” junket was hosted in Chicago’s Peninsular Hotel on East Superior Street. The cheapest room is $490 a night plus tax. It makes a guy like me feel like one of the Beverly Hillbillies, but I long ago got over my embarrassment at not being on the same pay scale as [Nicolas] Cage or Stone. I now feel quite comfortable visiting the world of endless bottled water and expensive teas.

The embarrassment I never was able to overcome was that of being in a room with other movie reviewers. Many of these people … come across like morons.
