Vanity Fair Names Paul Mazursky Online Film Critic
Paul Mazursky, a veteran director and actor, has been named VanityFair.com’s new Film Critic. Mazursky has been nominated for an Academy Award five times, four for his screenplays and once as a director. It’s Mazursky’s wealth of experience that made him the right choice for the job, said Graydon Carter.
“I wanted a film critic who’s been inside the Hollywood trenches; one who would bring a richly seasoned viewpoint to current cinema,” explained Carter. “Mazursky fits the bill to a ‘T.’ There isn’t an aspect of moviemaking that he doesn’t know first hand. And he has the scars to prove it.”
Mazursky’s debut column is up today, featuring reviews of Melancholia and J. Edgar.
