Will Katie’s ‘Couricness’ Boost Ratings?

Some call it “exuberance.” Others, “perkiness.” We call it “Couricness.”

The value of Couricness, or whatever you call it, is debated in today’s USA Today:

“Katie’s exuberance will likely soon put her well ahead of her rivals in the ratings,” predicts Paul Levinson, a Fordham University journalism professor.

Or maybe not, says Harvard media analyst Alex Jones. “CBS is going to be looking for numbers, and they paid Katie the big bucks because she brings people. But those people may, in fact, have little interest in the kind of news that The CBS Evening News does.”
