WPIX Reporter Debra Alfarone Jumps Ship for Washington, D.C.

Debra Alfarone is on the move. The award-winning reporter is leaving WPIX, which she joined in 2010, for WUSA, the CBS-affilate in Washington, D.C., our sister site TVSpy reports. She’ll be the station’s lead, late news reporter.

“I jumped at the opportunity to showcase my storytelling style as a lead reporter in a top ten market,” Alfarone tells FishbowlNY.

A Queens native, Alfarone grew up on Long Island.

During her two years at WPIX, Alfarone made her mark. As stated on her Website, she wasd the first reporter on the scene in 2010 covering the horrific story of human remains washing up on Gilgo Beach, thought to be the work of a serial killer.

“I’ll miss New York City, but I’ll be back often,” Alfarone says. “And in an election year, it couldn’t be a more perfect time to dig into D.C.”

Before arriving at Channel 11, Alfarone was a morning reporter at NBC’s station in Hartford.
