Big changes at Nielsen Business Media. Wright Ferguson, who was named the first national publisher of Adweek back in 1997, is leaving the company. His job was ”overseeing the advertising and marketing of Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek and Editor & Publisher magazines and their companion web properties.”

In addition, several other positions will be eliminated. Marisa Grimes, Manager, Corporate Communications for Nielsen Business Media emails FishbowlNY:

”Wright Ferguson has decided to leave Nielsen to pursue other interests after 15 years with the company. Wright is a valued colleague and friend and he leaves behind an incredible legacy at Adweek. We wish him well and much success in his future endeavors.

”Separately, as part of our growth strategy, a handful of positions in the Marketing & Media Group (of which Adweek is a part) were eliminated. However, we are actively searching for opportunities elsewhere within our organization for the individuals who are affected.”
