A New Announcer for NBC Nightly News
It’s a familiar voice: Howard Reig announcing, “From NBC News World Headquarters in New York, this is NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.” But starting tomorrow, that will change.
“We hope to see you right back here on Monday night, when, by the way, we’ll be debuting our new announcer,” Williams said at the close of Friday’s broadcast. “A new voice at the very top of the broadcast you’ll hear every night, and here’s a hint: it’s a name you know.”
An NBC press release gives a more extensive clue: the new announcer has had an “extensive, award-winning theatrical career for nearly forty years.”
Reig, by the way, officially retired in 2005 from NBC, where he had worked since 1952.
