ABC Journos Killed: “They Are Really Our Eyes & Ears In Iraq… Without Them We Are Blind”

“These men put themselves at great risk every day because they felt it was important not just as journalists but as Iraqis,” Chris Cuomo said on GMA today. He tossed to Terry McCarthy in Baghdad, who said:

“They are really our eyes and ears in Iraq. There are many places in Baghdad that are just too dangerous for foreigners to go now, so we have Iraqi camera crews who bravely go out and shoot what’s going on here. Without them we are blind and we cannot see what’s going on.”

102 journalists have been killed on duty in Iraq, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

“It is in fact Iraqi journalists and media staff who bear the brunt of the danger,” Mother Jones reported last year.
