Cablers Set To Cover ‘March On Washington’ Anniversary

The cable news channels all have special coverage planned for the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “March on Washington.”

Al Sharpton will kick things off on MSNBC with a two-hour “PoliticsNation” from the national mall on Friday, August 23. Sharpton will actually be leading the march on Saturday, and MSNBC will have live programming all day starting at 8 AM. “Melissa Harris-Perry,” “Disrupt” and “The Ed Show’ will all be live from Washington DC covering the events.

CNN will also be providing live coverage Saturday, and has a documentary, “The March on Washington – An Oral History” set to air Friday night at 10 PM. Don Lemon is the anchor of the doc, which features firsthand accounts of people who were at the original march 50 years ago.

Fox News will have Bret Baier anchoring coverage of the march on Saturday, and will air a special “Beyond The Dream: How Far Have We Come?” hosted by Kelly Wright at an airdate to be determined.
