CNN.com Calls, Uncalls, Mississippi for Obama

This is a CNN.com breaking news email alert that went out shortly after 8pmET:

Barack Obama wins the Mississippi Democratic primary, CNN projects.

Within minutes another email went out:

Correction: Exit polls show Obama leading Clinton in Mississippi. CNN has not projected this race.

In fact, CNN did not call the race until 8:27pmET.

From CNN spokesperson Barbara Levin: A CNN Breaking News email alert stating that CNN had projected Senator Barack Obama winner of the Mississippi primary was inadvertently sent at approximately 8:02 p.m. ET. The error was quickly corrected, and CNN Breaking News email alert recipients were notified of the error moments later. While CNN officially projected Mississippi for Senator Obama soon after this taking place, we apologize for any confusion this may have caused our users and viewers.
