Code Pink Interrupts Senate Committee Hearing on Use of Force in Syria

Just as Secy. of State John Kerry finished his opening remarks at the Senate Armed Services Committee on Pres. Obama’s use of force resolution in Syria, a protestor from the anti-war group Code Pink shouted, “We don’t want another war.”

After the protestor was led out, Kerry, a veteran opposed to the Vietnam war, talked about his appearance before this same committee on April 22, 1971: “The first time I testified before this committee when I was 27 years old. I had feelings very similar to that protester. And I would just say that is exactly why it is so important we’re all here having this debate, talking about these things before the country. And that the congress itself will act representing the American people. And I think we all can respect those who have a different point of view.”

All the cable news networks are carrying live coverage of the hearing.
