Contessa Brewer Leaving Daily Anchoring at MSNBC

Contessa Brewer, who has been a fixture on MSNBC since 2003, will no longer be an anchor on the network, TVNewser has learned.

For the last year-and-a-half Brewer has anchored the NoonET hour on MSNBC as well as hosting the weekend documentary series “Caught on Camera.” Her final daily newscast is tomorrow but she will continue to host “Caught” and work on other projects for NBC News and MSNBC.

There’s no word yet on a replacement show, but whatever it is, it will debut after Labor Day, with an interim anchor filling in next week. MSNBC recently beefed up its anchor staff with the hire of WRC transplant Craig Melvin.

Brewer joined MSNBC in September 2003, after working as an anchor/reporter at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, and, before that, at KMIR-TV in Palm Springs.
