Diane Sawyer Live

Last week, when J. Max Robins suggested that Diane Sawyer could move to CNN by this time next year, the conventional wisdom was simple. “Wouldn’t it be interesting if Diane Sawyer became ‘available’ as Larry King‘s contract winds down,” an e-mailer said. “Diane has the charisma, interview-draw power, and celeb status that would make her a natural fit for a nightly talk show.”

Unfortunately, I don’t think any interviewers have asked Sawyer about the prospect of a nightly cable program. Would she want to host a live show four or five nights a week?

> Also: Gawker says: “Not that anything’s even near official, but [Sawyer's] minions are already rumored to be interviewing with the Today show’s Matt Lauer. Which is only slightly less insulting than if they were interviewing with Meredith Vieira…”
