Following Up With Youssif

youssif_12-21.jpgCNN has followed the situation with Youssif, a 5-year-old Iraqi boy who was severely burned by assailants in January, for more than four months. On December 24 at 10pmET, CNN will air “Rescuing Youssif,” reported by Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Arwa Damon, as an update on Youssif’s situation.

The Impact Your World special will look at the surgeries Youssif has encountered since arriving in California in September at the Grossman Burn Center. Yesterday Damon wrote an article for CNN.com, reporting that, thanks to the surgery, Youssif can smile again.

The initial story in August aired on CNN and was highlighted on CNN.com, and the response was tremendous. The page on CNN.com to the story and donation link became the highest trafficked non-breaking news story in CNN history.

The special will re-air on December 25 at 4pmET.
