Bill Maher is backing away from his remarks on Real Time, the NY Daily News reports. Maher says: “If I or my representatives got it wrong about how the ‘Free Speech’ segment of the ‘CBS Evening News’ is, sorry, our bad. I’m ready, willing and able to speak about the topic I originally suggested.”

According to B&C, CBS “sent Maher three possible topics that would likely be dealt with on the next week’s newscasts. CBS wants the commentaries to be topical…”
