French Toast?: Former ABC Analyst Defends Himself

FishbowlNY has the latest chapter in the Alexis Debat story. FBNY has obtained an email exchange between the fired ABC News counterterrorism consultant, and a man named Rob Sherman.

Debat claims he paid a Rob Sherman $500 to interview Sen. Barack Obama. Debat was then going to use the responses for a story in a French publication. But the Obama campaign says the quotes Debat used were made up. The Frenchman, Debat, is now also accused of making up interviews with other newsmakers.

An ABC News spokesperson tells TVNewser a second internal investigation is underway to determine whether any reporting from Debat has been compromised. ABC hired Debat in late 2001, and demanded his resignation this past June.
