Gingrich: No More Journalists Moderating Debates
GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says that if he becomes the party nominee, he won’t participate in any debates in which reporters are the moderators. We are sorry to break the news to you Bret Baier, Bob Schieffer, Wolf Blitzer and Brian Williams, but according to Gingrich you guys just can’t be trusted.
Politico reports on what Gingrich said:
“As your nominee, I will not accept debates in the fall in which the reporters are the moderators,” he said, “because you don’t need to have a second Obama person in the debate.”
Gingrich never specified exactly who would moderate the debates instead of journalists. Maybe Donald Trump?
Politico also talks to the spokesperson for the Commission on Presidential Debates, the non-partisan organization which helps organize and set the ground-rules for the debates. Not surprisingly, they suggest that any debates will probably be moderated by journalists.
