Harrigan: “I Don’t Want To Go Back” To Iraq

This afternoon on FNC’s DaySide, war correspondent Steve Harrigan added his voice to the growing chorus of journalists expressing fear about the future of Iraq. Johnny Dollar has the video:

  I think the question is, what’s going to happen when the Americans leave? If you have Sunnis and Shiites blowing up their own mosques right now, how are Sunnis and Shiites going to fight together side by side and trust each other?

What do you think the answer to that is?

I think once the Americans leave, they’re going to slaughter each other, sometime down the line. I think there’s going to be a lot more bloodshed between Iraqis down the road.

And then this:

  Are you going back anytime soon?

I don’t want to go back.

Really?

Yeah.

I mean, I’ll probably go back sometime–

That surprises me coming out of your mouth because you’ve been to the hot spots and you are gung-ho to go to these hot spots.

Interest, I think, is waning. And it’s a repetitive story. I think there will be trouble elsewhere.
