Imus Fired: Al Roker’s Influence

TV Guide’s Stephen Battaglio says NBC’s stance on the Don Imus scandal changed because of “a meeting late on the afternoon of April 10.”

The meeting was held with NBC News president Steve Capus and 30 staffers, “including Today show weatherman Al Roker, the most high-profile African-American on-air personality in the news division. According to an NBC insider, Roker told Capus, ‘That could have been my daughter’ Imus was joking about.”

Roker references daughters in this blog post on MSNBC.com today. Roker says “I am proud of the courage our president of NBC News, Steve Capus, has shown in making this difficult decision…”
