Imus Fired: Meet the Press Roundtable Scraps Plan For More Imus Talk

Twenty minutes into Sunday’s Meet the Press, Tim Russert teased the upcoming roundtable segment by saying:

“Coming next, Don Imus, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and the 2008 presidential candidates.”

But the roundtable never made it past Imus. David Brooks, John Harwood, Eugene Robinson, and Gwen Ifill “turned the spotlight on themselves, ‘the media elite,’ as they discussed the Imus case” for the next 35 minutes, an e-mailer says.
