Katrina: Sanjay Gupta Takes Chopper & Boat To New Orleans Hospital

Early this morning, there were reports that Charity Hospital had been completely evacuated. CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta debunked that information during American Morning.

“There’s over 200 patients still here remaining,” he said. “That was startling to me, because I’ve been varying reports that maybe the hospital had been evacuated as early as this past Tuesday. Still over 200 patients here. We came in via — we just found our way in through a chopper and had to land at a landing strip across the way here, and then take a boat over to the hospital. And it is exactly in that boat area where the boat was traveling where the snipers actually opened fire yesterday, halting all the evacuations, at least for a while yesterday.”
