Not The End Of An Anchorman Era
PBS anchorman Jim Lehrer is becoming a spokesperson for the anchorman era — and he’s telling readers that isn’t over yet. His comments in today’s Baltimore Sun are a good example:![]()
“I think what’s passing are some individuals: Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel and others.![]()
However, you notice they are being replaced and that Brian Williams is still an anchorman. Bob Schieffer is still an anchorman. In some cases, there may be a team of two or three people taking over, but they are still anchoring the news…![]()
Everybody’s saying, ‘Well, it’s the end of the anchorman era.’ But then there’s Brian Williams who’s got 10 million people watching him every night, so what the [heck] is that all about?”
