NYT Says Comcast Will Carry Fox Biz

News Corp. has reached a deal with Comcast to carry the Fox Business Channel, Tuesday’s NYT reports.

The nation’s “largest operator of cable television systems” has “agreed to carry the channel for its digital subscribers,” but “a final decision on whether to start the channel has still not been made, two executives briefed on the arrangement said.”

Important: “Comcast’s roughly 12 million digital subscribers would get the channel as part of their service. Those subscribers, combined with the 15.5 million subscribers to DirecTV, the satellite service controlled by the News Corporation, give the channel a substantial platform of as many as 27.5 million subscribers.” News Corp. has previously spoken of a 30 million subs goal.
