O’Reilly & Vermont: Not On Speaking Terms

“A judge vilified as soft on crime by bloggers, TV commentators and politicians for giving a child molester just 60 days in jail increased the sentence Thursday to three to 10 years behind bars,” the AP notes.

O’Reilly led the charge. As video of Cashman rolled, he declared on the air: “You may be looking at the worst judge in the USA.” On Thursday’s Factor, O’Reilly called the increased sentence a “partial victory.” But I suspect the Fox commentator and the state of Vermont won’t be on speaking terms anytime soon.

“Regardless of where we as Vermonters stand on the Judge Edward Cashman debate we must all stand up and defend ourselves from Bill O’Reilly’s assault on our state,” a letter to the editor said in the Burlington Free Press yesterday.

And a Middlesex resident wrote to the Rutland Herald: “O’Reilly’s current fumings about Vermont, we should all remember the words of William Shakespeare, or at least a paraphrased version: O’Reilly will die/and worms will eat him/but not for love.”
