CBS News White House correspondent John Roberts “had long been considered [Dan] Rather‘s successor,” TV Guide’s Stephen Battaglio notes.

But “in my mind, no, he is not,” Sean McManus said at the TCA press tour yesterday. “He’s been an excellent White House correspondent. But we’re looking in a different direction.”
