Steroid Announcement to Compete With Dem Debate

Mitchell_1213.jpgToday’s George Mitchell news conference, which will conclude the former Senator’s 20-month report on MLB steroid use, will air live on at least two cable news networks: Headline News and Fox Business Network. The story, which culminates with the 2pmET announcement, has gained steam throughout the day, as big stars like Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Albert Pujols are reportedly named on the list of players.

WNBC in New York has obtained a leaked copy of all the names, but the list has not been verified by Major League Baseball.

The Iowa Democratic debate will be carried live on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC at 2pmET, just as the Republican debate was yesterday.

More steroid-related press conferences will take place the rest of the afternoon, with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig‘s presser scheduled for 3:30pmET and the MLB Player’s Union scheduled for 6pmET. No word on which cabler will take those live.

>Update: CNBC will cover the Mitchell presser live as well.
