Supreme Arguments

The Center for Constitutional Rights took their case all the way to the Supreme Court today. But getting their message through the media was a little more daunting. The group backed this ad featuring Danny Glover and the mock shredding of the U.S. Constitution. The CCR apparently hoped it would air on cable news networks prior to today’s arguments related to a Guantanamo Bay detainee case. FNC, for one, turned them down.

The Swamp‘s James Oliphant updates the story he’s been following with a quote from FNC’s senior VP for ad sales Paul Rittenberg. “These guys never played it straight,” Rittenberg says. Rittenberg believes the center was never serious about placing an ad on FNC, but wanted to use the rejection for publicity purposes. Oliphant writes, “the ad will run on CNN and MSNBC, the center says.”

Not so. TVNewser contacted CNN and MSNBC today. The ad did not air on either network, at least not nationally.
