Fusion Announces New Summer Shows

abc_fusion_logo_130508Fusion has unveiled a new slate of summer programming, three new shows and two specials that will premiere beginning this month.

The shows are “Drug Wars,” a firsthand look at the law enforcement officials charged with keeping drugs out of the U.S., and “The Dukes of 2 Square,” a series following two friends as they attempt to establish themselves as street artists. “Drug Wars” will air Thursdays at 10pmET beginning July 17 and “The Dukes of 2 Square” will air Wednesdays at 10pmET beginning July 30. In August, Fusion will also debut “Rootas,” a series on “the alternative and edgy side of Latin America.”

“Our new slate of programming this summer is thought-provoking and entertaining, which is exactly the combination Fusion viewers have come to expect from us,” Fusion CEO Isaac Lee said in a statement.

Other summer programming includes the English-language premiere of “This is Not a Ball,” a feature documentary of about Brazilian artist Vik Muniz‘s passion for soccer, and a one-hour primetime comedy special with “Daily Show” correspondent Al Madrigal.

The Morning Ticker: Madrigal, Gorani, Huddy

  • Actor, comedian, and “Daily Show” Latino correspondent Al Madrigal will host and report a one-hour primetime special for Fusion on the power and influence of the booming Latino community in America. The special will air this fall.

  • Hala Gorani has returned to CNN London, where she will host a new hour-long news show starting this June on CNN International. Gorani has been based at CNN headquarters in Atlanta.

  • John Huddy, currently a reporter for WNYW the FOX O&O in New York City, will be joining Fox News Channel’s Jerusalem bureau. Huddy is the brother of Juliet Huddy, who has had several stints with Fox News and is currently an anchor at WNYW.

Look who’s in the MSNBC newsroom… at 1:30am

No joke. Behind MSNBC anchor Veronica De La Cruz, that’s stand-up comic Al Madrigal, and comedian/actors Zach Galifianakis and Nick Kroll. They were all in Studio 8H where they caught Ed Helms hosting Saturday Night Live. After the show they made their way down to the third floor and the MSNBC newsroom. De La Cruz made no mention of the trio behind her in the update that aired at 1:30amET. But she Tweeted this picture early this morning.
