Terror Plot: Its Scary, “Very Very Frightening,” And “Chilling & Terrifying”

FNC covered the JFK terror plot more extensively than CNN or MSNBC on Saturday. The word “terror” was used on FNC at least 77 times through 10pm according to a TVEyes search, compared to 43 times on CNN and 24 times on MSNBC.

Sometimes it felt like the guests on cable nets were tripping over eachother to emphasize the scariness of the story. Some examples from Fox News:

> 12:30pm: Laura Ingle at FNC HQ: “This, no doubt, is scary news for anybody out there who has travel plans this weekend…”

> 2:04pm: Former FBI agent William Daly: “A scary day… It goes to show that these people are out there, they’re doing their homework, they’re planning, and there could potentially be others right now as we’re talking about it…”

> 3:17pm: NY congressman Gary Ackerman: “It’s very very frightening what the terrorists are capable of doing… It gives you pause to wonder the innovative things that these terrorists can think of us, we have to keep re-evaluating things they could possibly anticipate doing…”

> 4:34pm: Host Julie Banderas: “So imagine this, had this plot ever actually come to fruition, would we have been prepared for the aftermath? That is a scary thought but it is a real one…”

> 5:35pm: Laura Ingle in Brooklyn: “A chilling and terrifying plot stopped in its tracks and brought to closure here today…”
