Market Selloff: Wall-To-Wall Cable At 3pm
FNC and CNN started covering the market plunge at almost exactly 3:00:00pm. MSNBC followed 110 seconds later.
FNC's Shep Smith immediately started narrating the action. CNN leaned on Susan Lisovicz for analysis. MSNBC had some trouble initially covering the breaking news. ("We're trying to get you a guest to talk about this," the producer told the anchor.) Smith did a great job guiding viewers through the breaking news. And an e-mailer says Lisovicz "earned her paycheck today," interviewing "veteran stockbrokers from the floor of the NYSE... great color, character, and context from the floor traders."
