Job Description
We are looking for an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern to work on real projects, contribute to meaningful work, and grow professionally over two full semesters.
Academic Year Internship Program Details
Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
Time Commitment: 16–24 hours per week (schedule determined by business need, with accommodations for course schedules)
Format: Interns will work from New York, NY.
Academic Year Recruitment Timeline
April 20: Applications open
May 8: Applications close at 11:59 pm ET (early submission recommended)
Early May – Mid June: First round video interviews
Mid June – Mid July: Second round interviews
Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers

Areas of Placement
Interns may be assigned to one of the following teams:
Audience Development & Engagement (Newsletters & Paid Media, SEO)
Acquire and grow audiences using data analytics.
Support SEO, paid content distribution, newsletter operations, and reengagement tactics.
Collaborate with writers, editors, producers, and executives.
Consumer Insights
Identify audience motivations through surveys, focus groups, online communities, and content analysis.
Inform editorial, marketing, and ad sales strategies across linear and digital platforms.
Marketing & Post‑Production
Assist with production and post‑production of advertising, promotion, and marketing materials.
Develop understanding of network brands and support day‑to‑day creative team operations.
Complete a portfolio project to build creative and strategic skills.
Social (NBC News & TODAY Social)
Drive social media production and publication across accounts.
Write headlines, edit videos and graphics, and distribute content on platforms.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
Actively enrolled in a degree‑granting program during the entire period (September 2026 – April 2027).
Current class standing: sophomore or above (at least 30 credits).
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring future NBCUniversal sponsorship.
Available to work 16–24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
Desired Characteristics
Junior or above preferred.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Strong interest in media industry.
Commitment to inclusive work environment.
Excellent multitasking, organization, verbal and written communication skills.
Interest in quantitative and qualitative research.
Previous internship experience, college leadership, or newsroom experience preferred.
For Production/Editorial roles: experience with school newspaper or campus news station advantageous.
For Creative/Digital roles: experience with social media platforms and tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, or Avid preferred.
Desired majors: Brand Management, Broadcast Media, Business, Communications, Digital Media, Digital Video, English, Finance, Human Resource Management, Journalism, Market Research, Marketing, Mass Media, News Writing and Reporting, Production, Social Media.
Hourly rate: $19.00 per hour.
