
MILITARY PAY TECHNICIAN.

Responsibilities
Provide accurate and timely centralized pay services to Active and Reserve military service members through the maintenance of service member’s MMPA (Master Military Pay Account).
Handle problem cases that are elevated by junior staff members for final resolution.
Process a variety of complex pay cases requiring comprehensive review and in-depth research to determine the cause of discrepancies within a service member’s account and corrective action.
Resolve the most complex military pay and allowance cases involving substantial retroactive payments, adjustments, or collections.
Determine appropriate course of action, utilize a testing system to simulate effects of the revised
ew procedure, then modify or create new office procedures as appropriate.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
Suitable for Federal employment.
Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after the latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications
To be hired at the GS-7 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-6). This specialized experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position and is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex military payroll transactions; determining entitlements; examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness, and accuracy; and reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complex military payroll problems or issues using a variety of techniques.
Education: One year of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Transcripts must be submitted at the time of application.
