General Function
The Optometric Technician at Target Optical creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. Enthusiastically satisfies patients all the time through exceptional service.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Greets guests promptly and displays urgency in service.
Determines reason for the guest's visit; explains how to shop or required paperwork, tests, products, and services.
Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully; consults with opticians, doctors, or management when necessary.
Shows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests.
Performs work accurately under time pressure; resolves unsatisfied guests quickly.
Demonstrates knowledge of appointment scheduling, and computer operation.
Handles and files all patient records efficiently.
Places contact lens orders, processes shipments, and submits invoices for payment.
Operates POS system and collects payment appropriately.
Maintains store appearance and display cleanliness.
Reports potential safety opportunities to management.
Demonstrates safe work practices and complies with safety regulations.
Performs pre-examination testing accurately and explains results.
Provides guidance to patients on contact lens care.
Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the optometrist as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year strong guest service skills.
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent experience.
Strong communicator and listener to guests and associates.
Basic math skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Sales skills.
Knowledge of store merchandise.
Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in guest service, retail, or optical.
Pay Range: $25.60 hourly. Pay determined by factors such as geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage. May receive bonus or commission. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and employee discounts.
