The Living Shores Aquarium is looking for a motivated, focused, and energetic Aquatic Facilities host with a strong ability to learn on the job to join our aquarium team. The Aquatics Facility Host will report to the Aquatics and Aquarium Facilities Supervisor and be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the aquarium life support systems, HVAC units, and the general organizing and cleaning of the facility.

Roles & Responsibilities
Works closely with facilities & animal care teams to maintain system operations in aquarium
Maintenance of large media sand filters
Saltwater mixing
Operation of wastewater evaporator
Maintain protein skimmer venturi injection cleaning and associated ozone generator piping
HVAC filter changes and cleaning
Assist in general pump repair, replacement, and cleaning pump baskets, changing UV bulbs, O‑rings, and quartz sleeves, and cleaning heat pump grates
Provide accurate record keeping for check‑in/out procedures on Microsoft applications and in writing, experience with CMMS record keeping a plus
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment, uphold all safety procedures and protocols set by Herschend Enterprises
Experience & Preferred Skills
Background in plumbing or pool maintenance field accepted, any knowledge in aquarium keeping preferred but not required
Knowledge of nitrogen cycle water chemistry and the adequate parameters in aquariums
Ability to troubleshoot system inconsistencies in flow, temperature, and any equipment failure
High School diploma, GED, or Equivalent work experience will also be considered
Trade school training or other technical certification is a plus
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with NH Child Labor Laws
Ability to work a flexible schedule preferred
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Must possess strong mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
General working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pumps, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing and carpentry preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for short periods of time
Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 40 pounds or moreAbility to work in non‑conventional areas of the property, including in confined spaces and ladders
Ability to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/tools
Working Conditions
Exposure to the variable temperatures, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
Subject to repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, and exposure to various chemicals
Subject to zoonotic pathogens exposure, proper PPE is required in these situations.
