Responsibilities
Work with and assist pharmacists and nurses with pharmacy‑related issues for patients and facilitate the implementation of provider orders
Perform dispensing functions under the supervision of a pharmacist
Prepare IV admixtures and any other sterile preparation encountered in pharmacy according to departmental policies
Make regular deliveries of medications to nursing units
Process unit‑based Pyxis refill reports and promptly resupply medications to the nursing units
Answer and process incoming phone calls to the department
Assist with department inventory processes
Process patient medication charges and credits accurately into pharmacy and/or hospital information system
Requirements
Must be 17.5 years of age or older
Typing, clerical, and science background desirable
Registration with Iowa Board prior to starting employment
Pass the test for and maintain national Pharmacy Technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within one year of employment
