Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas
The Faculty of Dentistry is a world-class Oral Health Centre committed to the promotion of oral health through excellence of its Learning & Teaching, Service rendering and Research. The Faculty seeks professionally qualified candidates with excellent credentials for a developmental post on the joint establishment of the University of the Western Cape and the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, on the conditions of service of the University of the Western Cape.
Responsibilities
Teaching and training on the combined platform i.e. Appropriate training, supervision and general teaching of undergraduate and post graduate students
Rendering service to patients at the Faculty of Dentistry training sites
Conduct, assist and stimulate research
Publish in relevant fields of interest
Maintain satisfactory clinical, professional and ethical standards related to these services
Participation in Faculty Community Engagement programmes
Attend to administrative matters as pertains to the academic unit
The Following Would Enhance An Application
Other post graduate qualification/s (PGDip, PhD)
Ability to work in a team
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Language proficiency in at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape
Minimum Requirements
Appointment to this position requires all the following criteria:
A BChD / BDS degree
A MSc degree in Prosthodontics
12-15 years post qualification experience
Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dentist
Experience in learning and teaching (minimum 3 years), research, and administration
Research (minimum 2 publications) and publication record
