Job Description
This role is a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.

Responsibilities

Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).

Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.

Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility decisions.

Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.

Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluations with occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents.

Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate‑equivalent nursing program with state requirements.

Current licensed or certified in the assigned state: LPN or LVN.

Current CPR and AED certification.

Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
