Job Description
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support Plasma Center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
Responsibilities
Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serologic protein electrophoresis (SPE).
Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, develop standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care.
Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues impacting donor safety and eligibility.
Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
Currently licensed or certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
At least two years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Compensation and Benefits
Location:
USA – ND – Bismarck
Hourly Wage:
$35.20 – $48.40
