Key Accounting Manager Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process


• Oversee project-based accounting, including:




• WIP schedules


• % of completion revenue recognition


• Project cost tracking and analysis




• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and ensure overall financial accuracy


• Partner closely with project managers and operational leaders to analyze:




• Project performance


• Budget vs. actuals


• Profitability and backlog




• Support financial reporting and variance analysis for leadership


• Assist with audit support, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor requests


• Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience


• Strong understanding of:




• WIP & % of completion accounting


• Job costing and project financials




• Proven ability to manage or significantly contribute to the close process


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA a plus)


• Advanced Excel skills; experience with project-based ERP systems (Deltek, Unanet, etc.) preferred
