Key Responsibilities of the Controller
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, job cost accounting, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements while supporting audit processes
- Lead job cost accounting functions, including project setup, cost tracking, and revenue recognition
- Partner with operations to analyze project performance and improve profitability
- Implement reporting tools and dashboards to enhance financial visibility
- Drive process improvements, automation, and ERP optimization initiatives
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering accountability and collaboration
Qualifications for the Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance
- Experience with job cost accounting and project-based financial environments
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
