
Payroll Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle, in-house payroll for 400 employees across multiple states
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Manage employee garnishments, levies, and other payroll deductions
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports and ensure timely tax payments
- Maintain and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Perform month-end close activities related to payroll, including benefits reconciliation
- Prepare and post journal entries and accruals related to payroll and benefits
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate employee data and reporting
- Assist with audits related to payroll and benefits as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 3+ years of payroll and/or accounting experience, preferably in construction or a multi-state environment
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience managing garnishments and complex payroll deductions
- Proficiency in payroll systems and accounting software
- Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
