General Description
The Concrete General Laborer performs a variety of tasks on construction projects, including assisting with concrete placement, site preparation, and material handling. This role requires flexibility, as tasks may shift based on project demands.
Key Duties
Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete.
Dismantle forms after concrete sets.
Dig ditches and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, and rakes.
Lift, hoist, and load construction materials, including sheet goods, plywood, and lumber.
Equipment & Tools Operation:
Assist in operating leveling systems, lasers, transoms, site levels, and hand levels to ensure proper alignment.
Use hand tools and power tools for various concrete finishing and site preparation tasks.
Safety & Communication:
Maintain a safe and clean worksite by following all safety procedures.
Communicate professionally with supervisors, teammates, contractors, and clients.
Perform incidental duties in other crafts as needed to support the team.
Qualification Requirements
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
3–5 years of experience as a Concrete General Laborer or in a related role.
Ability to follow work directions, read blueprints, and collaborate with site supervisors.
Physical Demands:
Constant standing, bending, stooping, and crouching for at least 8 hours per shift.
Ability to lift and carry 50–90 lbs frequently, up to 150 lbs with assistance.
Work at heights up to 60 feet, using ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers.
Manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and operate concrete vibrators for extended periods.
Walk frequently on uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions.
Stay constantly alert to worksite activities and potential hazards.
Outdoor construction site in all weather conditions.
Exposure to high noise levels, dust, grease, and heavy machinery.
Work near moving equipment and construction materials.
Handling of substances such as f
orm oil, curing compounds, gasoline, and concrete .
